How to create a wedding photo QR code
- Create an OurFilm event and set its end time.

- Test it on both an iPhone and an Android phone before printing.
The QR code and the shareable link lead to the same event. Guests who receive a digital invitation can tap the link; guests at the venue can scan the printed code.
What guests see after scanning
The guest enters a display name and joins the event. Their phone opens a simple camera showing the remaining number of shots. Taking a photo uses one frame, and there is no preview or retake.
Photos either appear immediately or stay hidden until the event ends, depending on the host's choice. Guests do not create an account and are not asked to pay.
Where to place the QR code
One large sign at the entrance is easy to miss. Repeat the code at moments when people are seated or waiting:
- one card on each dinner table;
- a small sign at the bar;
- beside the guest book or seating plan;
- near any photo prompt or prop area;
- in the wedding group or digital itinerary before the event.
Use the same design and wording everywhere. Repetition helps guests recognise that each code opens the same shared wedding film.
What to write beside it
The best sign explains the action and the reward. For example:
Scan for your camera. You have 24 shots — help us capture the moments we miss.
If photos are hidden during the event, say when they will appear:
Your photos develop when the party ends.
Avoid a bare “Scan me” message. It gives no reason to open the camera and does not tell guests what will happen next.
Why a browser camera reduces friction
Every extra step loses participants. Requiring an app download, account, password or invitation approval is especially costly at a wedding, where guests are not there to configure software.

Test before you print
Open the real event URL on more than one phone and check:
- the QR code scans from the intended print size;
- the venue has usable mobile data or Wi-Fi in the relevant rooms;

- the chosen shot count and reveal setting are correct;
- the printed code points to the final event, not a design preview or test URL.
Testing the entire path matters more than making the sign decorative. A perfect card with an old QR code cannot be fixed once hundreds of copies are on the tables.
